Community and Reproductive Health

Under this strategic area, RCRA is grounded on increasing access to numerous family planning services, primary healthcare, and climate resilient families in rural underserved communities in Rwenzori Region and refugee settlements in Uganda. We create awareness on the benefits of being able to choose the timing and spacing of children and the family planning methods available thereby accelerating access to modern contraceptives and other primary health care services, and integrated natural resource management, for example.

  • Information provision and behavioral change communication in relation to family planning and reproductive health using community communication channels, dialogue events, adolescent led puppetry, door-to-door home visits.
  • Improved access to services through mobile-day clinics, backpack nurse model, home visits (by community health workers and peer educator) and referrals to public facilities.
  • Integrate other health activities: Hand washing tippy tap, safe drinking water, maternal and child health, HIV (Prevention, Testing and Treatment), and Malaria (Prevention, Testing and Treatment).
  • Male engagement schools as champions in the community for male’s health and agents of behavior change for the family health and caring.
