Who We Are

Rwenzori Center for Research and Advocacy (RCRA) is a Ugandan community- based Non-Governmental organization registered by law of Uganda (Reg: INDR150313682NB), with a national office in Kasese, Plot 5 Koro Road and a regional coordination office in Kampala.

With the mission of empowering communities for improved livelihoods, healthcare, and education appropriate for the 21st century, and envisions enabling an informed and healthier society.

As a multi-service advocacy organization, works with all age groups with a particular focus on the most underserved vulnerable people for example those living on low incomes, adolescents, women and young mothers, people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, refugees and victims of gender-based violence, and elderly people caring for orphans and vulnerable children.

RCRA operates a not-for-profit Community Health Centre III and Adolescent Recreation Centre offering free for 10-19 adolescents and subsidized comprehensive adolescent and youth sexual reproductive health services (HIV Testing and Counselling, and prevention, STI/STDs screening, adolescents antenatal care, cancer screening, Family Planning.), maternal, neonatal and child health.
RCRA’s community work is organized in 3 strategic areas namely: Community and Reproductive Health; Livelihood and Women’s Empowerment; and Research, Training and Advocacy.

Funding

Currently, 1,000 Women’s Gardens is supported by over 200 individual donors through Global Giving as well as funding from the Packard Foundation and 128 Collective
